Accounting & Bookkeeping

ZATCA-compliant VAT filing, IFRS statements, and Fatoorah e-invoicing.

From your first taxable sale, ZATCA expects VAT-compliant invoices under the FATOORA e-invoicing framework, periodic VAT returns, and — depending on your ownership mix — Zakat and corporate income tax filings. Banks, MISA renewals, and investors will also ask for IFRS financial statements. We run the books so all of that happens on time, in both Arabic and English. Everything is filed from one reconciled ledger, so the numbers ZATCA sees always match the ones your bank and head office see.

What's Included

  • Monthly bookkeeping on a bilingual (Arabic–English) chart of accounts
  • VAT returns at 15%, filed monthly or quarterly according to your revenue band
  • FATOORA e-invoicing compliance: Phase 1 generation requirements and Phase 2 integration when your wave is called
  • Zakat and corporate income tax returns, matched to your Saudi/foreign ownership split
  • Withholding tax filings on payments to non-resident suppliers where applicable
  • Annual IFRS financial statements and coordination with licensed auditors
  • Payroll and GOSI reconciliation against the general ledger

The Process

  1. Diagnostic. We review your current records, ZATCA portal status, and any backlog, then quote the cleanup and the monthly scope (3–5 business days).
  2. Setup. Chart of accounts, VAT codes, and e-invoicing configuration in your system — or ours (typically 1–2 weeks).
  3. Catch-up. Backlogged months are reconstructed from bank statements and invoices (timeframe varies with the number of months outstanding).
  4. Monthly close. Books closed and a management pack delivered within 10 business days of month-end.
  5. Filing calendar. VAT, Zakat/CIT, and withholding deadlines tracked and filed for you, with reminders before each due date.

Documents You'll Need

  • Bank statements for the period, plus sales and purchase invoices
  • Contracts with recurring customers and suppliers
  • Payroll records and GOSI statements
  • Prior VAT and Zakat filings and access to your ZATCA portal account

If you are behind on your books or unsure which ZATCA obligations apply to you, book a free consultation — the diagnostic tells you exactly where you stand before you spend anything. Reporting comes in both languages — Arabic for regulators and banks, English for your head office — and at year-end we prepare the audit file too, so the statutory audit does not stall your team for weeks.

Frequently Asked Questions

When do I have to register for VAT in Saudi Arabia?

Registration is mandatory once taxable turnover passes SAR 375,000 over twelve months, and voluntary from SAR 187,500 — early voluntary registration lets you reclaim input VAT. We handle the registration and set your filing frequency correctly from the start.

Do I pay Zakat or corporate income tax?

It follows your ownership: the Saudi/GCC-owned share of the entity is assessed for Zakat, while the foreign-owned share pays corporate income tax at 20% on its portion of profits. Mixed-ownership companies file for both, and we compute the split in the same return cycle.

What is FATOORA e-invoicing and does it apply to me?

FATOORA is ZATCA's mandatory e-invoicing framework: since Phase 1 every VAT-registered business must issue structured electronic invoices with QR codes, and Phase 2 adds direct integration with ZATCA's platform in waves announced by revenue size. We make sure your invoicing tool is compliant for your current phase and ready for your integration wave.

Will I file VAT monthly or quarterly?

Businesses with annual taxable revenue above SAR 40 million file monthly; everyone else files quarterly by default. Returns and payment are due by the end of the month following the period, and late filing draws automatic penalties — which is why we run the calendar for you.

My books are months behind. Can you fix that?

Yes — backlog cleanup is routine work for us. We reconstruct the ledger from bank statements, invoices, and POS or platform exports, then bring overdue VAT and Zakat filings current. A typical cleanup takes a few weeks depending on how many months are outstanding.
